At Western Fuels association he was a Coal buyer for large generation and transmission cooperatives in a nine state region in the middle of the country managing coal purchase and rail transportation relationships for Coal delivery to member/owners power plants; he managed operation of three separate WFA coal mines and initiated the WFA installation of the Dry Fork Mine in the Wyoming Powder River Basin. Dry Fork is the only PRB mine not first developed by major oil companies.At Peabody he served as chief lobbyist and director of State and Federal political and policy activities; He ran the coal use technology investment section, reporting to the CEO; He served as second to the CEO who served as member of the Paris based IEA Coal Industry Advisory Board; He represented Peabody on the London based World Coal Association Board, Serving as Chairman for one two-year term during which China’s Shenhua Energy Co., China Coal Energy Co. and the China National Coal Association joined as Members.
